Research Progress on Friction Nanogenerator Technology for Wave Energy Harvesting

The ubiquitous phenomenon of friction-generated energy, often considered to be of little practical value, has led to the development of a new technology known as friction nanogenerators (FNGs). This innovative technology offers significant potential for the sustained power supply and large-scale harvesting of wave energy, which can be particularly beneficial for ocean sensors. This paper presents an analysis of the current development of FNGs, a detailed description of the principles, operations, and modes of operation of FNGs for wave energy capture, and an investigation of the various FNG structures and their research progress. Additionally, it explores the current challenges and future trends of FNG technology and proposes the integration of FNG technology with other technological fields to provide researchers with a comprehensive understanding of its current status and potential in the field of wave energy harvesting.
