This review examines the issue of microplastics in the environment, providing a comprehensive analysis of the concept, transmission routes and locations, effects on human health, and removal methods. Microplastics are plastic fragments with a diameter of less than 5 mm, which are commonly found in the environment such as the ocean, soil and air. These microplastics not only pollute the environment, but also may be potentially harmful to human health. Therefore, it is crucial to study the removal methods of microplastics in order to reduce their adverse effects on the environment and human beings. Further, from a health perspective, close to physical and psychological needs, Chinese traditional medicine including tea and wormwood may play a therapeutic role.
